World’s Most Insane Laptop Has Three Screens

Do you prefer a gamer notebook or a desktop with three monitors? Then how about a gamer laptop with three screens? It may sound crazy, but Razer introduced a notebook that takes that idea seriously. I’m referring to Project Valerie, one of the attractions of CES 2017.

The equipment has a fixed screen in the middle and two on the sides that are retractable. So you can use one or all three screens at the same time as needed. And it’s not any kind of screen, no: all three panels are 17.3-inch, 4K resolution at 60 Hz, and IGZO technology with G-Sync support (a pattern that synchronizes the screen refresh rate with the GPU rendering).

The idea, of course, is to make the player have richer experiences in first person games or race simulators, for example. For this, it is important that the equipment must be generous in hardware. Razer did not detail the configuration but revealed that Project Valerie has a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GPU.

Looking at it with a little more attention, we realize that the laptop has another unusual feature: the touchpad is not below the keyboard, but to the right of it, in the space that is traditionally filled with numeric keys. I do not know if this helps in the game, but it is an interesting detail.

But this is a product in development, which is why it has to go through several adjustments. Who could already test the prototype saw, for example, that the mechanisms of the hinges of the side screens have not been finalized.

Another detail noticed in the tests is that the equipment heats up a lot, which suggests that the Razer designers will have to work hard to solve this problem.

There was no comment from Razer regarding the battery. But you can not wait for a miracle: with three screens of high resolution and Blocky GPU, an outlet will be mandatory here.

With these three screens there, you can not wait for a thin notebook, right? In fact, Project Valerie is a bummer, though not much: it has dimensions close to the gaming laptops available today.

Release date and prices are still unknown, but if we take into account that the Razer Blade Pro 17-inch and GeForce GTX 1080 costs from $3,700 in the United States, we can think of something with an initial value of $ 6,000. This, of course, if Project Valerie were to become a commercial product.
