Meet The World’s Smallest Arcade Gaming System

As we all know that with the evolution of the segment of mini PCs and the programming boards, there are several projects developed and arriving on the Internet. Hence, anyone who enjoys playing retro arcade games may be interested in this new world’s smallest desktop arcade system that has been created by Eric Lin.

Meet The World’s Smallest Arcade Gaming System

With the evolution of the segment of mini PCs and the programming boards, there are several projects developed and arriving on the Internet. Just commented on the possible production of a little arcade machine specially designed to play arcade games like Flappy Bird. Nanoarcade, yes, it is the world’s smallest video game system arcade.

So, today we will discern the world’s smallest arcade machine that was based actually on a Raspberry Pi Zero. When you think of arcade machines, we quickly imagine large wooden boxes with a screen and the controls. The project that we are going to present today is already considered as the world’s smallest functional arcade machine and it was presented by the site Adafruit and it was based on a Raspberry Pi Zero as we told earlier.

Nanoarcade reproduces the appearance of a real retro arcade machine and it was actually designed to be one-tenth the size of an actual video game machine. This mini machine has a small OLED display RGB 0.96″. It is powered by AA batteries and has a precision 360 joystick, six action buttons, built-in speaker and a mini cabinet with customizable stickers.

As indicated, this machine is fully functional and allows playing games, for example, using the emulator MAME Pac-Man, Donkey Kong and Xevious. You can even play via MicroUSB, like your favourite Java-based games, or you can try their premade 100 games created by the team Nanoarcade that comes preloaded on the video console.

However, the device is really extraordinary and detailed, as the design of the Nanoarcade includes a coin slot and uses a red power button to simulate the startup process of the game.

The creator of this device, Eric Lin have no intentions to the marketize (despite having the potential to do so). As they simply intended to publish a complete guide for those who want to do something unique. This is undoubtedly a very interesting project taking into account the size of it and its potential. Still need some brief information, simply you can find all the information about the hardware and software that were actually used, can be found here.
