TeamViewer is a remote desktop connection which permits users to share a screen and gives remote access to computers from anywhere in the world. Howeve in past 24 hours, countless users of TeamViewer have noticed reporting criminal access and claimed that their computers were accessed by hackers.

The problems actually started yesterday, when users were unable to connect to TeamViewer. Following this, the company’s official website also went offline but somehow TeamViewer team managed to pull it back online within few hours. Teamviewer team had reported their unsettled issues on twitter in which they mentioned that they are currently experiencing issues in parts of their networks.

Reddit User Morblius wrote:

“They accessed my PayPal and transferred $3,000 from my PayPal account to theirs.”

Redditor Eric1084 wrote:

“When I sat down on my chair, I saw my mouse is moving across the screen. Of course, I immediately revoked remote control and asked who [the hacker] is. At that point, he disconnected and attempted to connect to my Ubuntu server, which has all my backups. Good thing I connected to [the server] right after the remote’d into my workstation. I revoked his permission before he tried to open Firefox. Immediately after, I started panicking, and thought he just stole all my passwords.”

There are lot’s of users protesting on Reddit and Twitter regarding TeamViewer getting hacked but none of the accounts are independently verified.

However, the German company said

“TeamViewer is appalled by any criminal activity; however, the source of the problem, according to our research, is careless use, not a potential security breach on TeamViewer’s side.”

German Company also stated:

  1. Neither was TeamViewer hacked nor is there a security hole
  2. TeamViewer is safe to use and has proper security measures in place
  3. Our evidence points to careless use as the cause of the reported issue

But one thing is for true something wrong is going on because TeamViewer official site was also down for past few hours. On Wednesday, June 1, 2016, TeamViewer stated that

“TeamViewer experienced a service outage on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. The outage was caused by a denial-of-service attack (DoS) aimed at the TeamViewer DNS-Server infrastructure. TeamViewer immediately responded to fix the issue to bring all services back up.

“Some online media outlets falsely linked the incident with past claims by users that their accounts have been hacked and theories about would-be security breaches at TeamViewer. We have no evidence that these issues are related.”

This also symbolizes users not to use same passwords over multiple TeamViewer accounts and it also says that reports of unusual activity could be related to any malware-infections.
