United States Department of Defense’s secretive Cyber Command [Cybercom] is working to kill the Islamic State’s Internet connections and make the dreaded terror outfit in a state of “virtual isolation,” said Chiefs of Pentagon on Thursday.

Pentagon of US is Working to ‘Take Out’ Islamic State’s Internet

In what, he classified as the command’s “first major combat operation,”, Defense Secretary, Ashton Carter said Cybercom is playing vital role in the US led military operations against the dreaded terror outfit “Daesh” in Iraq and Syria.

“The objectives there are to interrupt ISIL command and control, interrupt its ability to move money around, interrupt its ability to tyrannize and control population, interrupt its ability to recruit externally,” Carter reported lawmakers at a Senate Armed Services Committee meeting.”We’re bombing them, and we’re going to take out their Internet and so forth as well”.

Carter’s top military advisor, who is the chairman of the Joints Chiefs of staff, General Joe Dunford said that aim was to disconnect the Daesh’s lines of communication.

“The overall effect we’re trying to achieve is virtual isolation. And this complements very much our physical actions on the ground, and the particular focus is external operations that might be conducted by ISIL,” Dunford said.

To recall, US launched operation against Daesh in August 2014, after the terror group captured the West off guard and carried out attacks in Iraq and Syria.

Cybercom is working in protecting America’s military including some civilian networks from attacks. Presently, the group has about 65 persons, and works in the Middle East and carries out virtual [cyber] attacks against Daesh.
