There were many competition going on in the smartphone market, we have seen Apple launched the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus previous month and we have also seen Google launched Pixel smartphone.

There were lots of comparison between Apple’s new iPhone and Google’s new Pixel series. To make things clearer, Strategy Analytics had shown us reports in which 375.4 million smartphones were sold globally in the third quarter of 2016.

The devices include Android, iOS, Windows 10 and few other operating systems. Linda Sui, director at Strategy Analytics said that 2016 is the smartphone industry’s fastest growth rate for a year.

Global smartphone sale has increased 6% compared to previous year. In 2015, 354. 2 million units were sold in Q3 whereas this year 375.4 million sold in Q3 and also credited countries like India, South Africa, countries in Middle East Africa and others for the boost in the smartphone sales.

Neil Mawston, Executive Director at Strategy Analytics said “Android’s domination of global smartphone shipments remained strong in Q3 2016, with a record 88 percent of all smartphones now running Google’s OS. Android’s gain came at the expense of every major rival platform. Apple iOS lost ground to Android and dipped to 12 percent share worldwide in Q3 2016, due to a lackluster performance in China and Africa”

The number of devices sold running Android OS in Q3’2016 is 328.6 million whereas on Q3’2015 it was 328.6 million observing a year-over-year growth of 10.3% . If we talk about Apple iOS 48.5 Million devices were sold in the Q3’2015 and 45.5 Million devices are sold at Q3’2016 that is about -5.2% decrease in sale, despite launching the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

It is clear from the above reports that Android had already dominated the smartphone Market. We have seen Google launched their Pixel series of smartphones. Woody Oh, director at Strategy Analytics said: “Google’s new Pixel range is attacking its own hardware partners that made Android popular in the first place.”
