The young generation is really giving huge competitions to professionals. We have reported how young hackers are hacking popular smartphones within a minute. We have recently seen Anvita Telang from Pune, India won the “Doodle for Google” 2016 contest.
So, today we will be talking about a 9-year-old girl who is the youngest ever developer to attend Apple’s WWDC 2016. Guess what? This 9-year-old girl is better at coding than most of the professionals.
Anvitha Vijay is one of the recipients of 350 scholarships handed over by the Apple CEO Tim Cook at WWDC event 2016. Awarding Anvita who is just 9 years old and showcasing her as the youngest iOS developer might be Apple’s strategy. However, it doesn’t hide the true fact that Anvitha is doing what even professionals find difficult. Indeed, Anvitha codes better than most adults.
Anvitha coded her first app which is called Smartkins Animals, she created the app to help her sister identify animals quickly. The app teaches young children about animals. Within a short span of time, her app is been download a few hundred times ahead of her interview.
Anvitha Vijay started her chosen coding career at the age of 7. At this age, others struggle to solve their mathematics problems. When asked about how she learns coding? She said she learned to code by watching instructional videos on YouTube. She used her mom’s phone and uploaded the app in iTunes account because the mandatory age to submit the app in iTunes is 13 years.
Anvitha Vijay used Xcode to create her first app whereas Apple’s new programming language is Swift. She is now working on an app called GoalsHi, which is supposed to help students gain confidence in the classroom and Anvitha moved from Xcode to Swift for creating this app.
When she was asked about how she feels being selected as the youngest developer at Apple WWDC she said “It was like a dream to be here and meet so many people,” Anvitha said. “I’ve just touched the tip of the iceberg in coding, there’s so much to learn” and when asked about Tim Cook she said “he’s really good,” and “really nice.”
Anvitha Vijay’s Business card displays the message “I want to make a difference in people’s lives through technology” and she is sure to have a very bright future.
