As we all know very well that in a major step to check black money, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi shocked the entire nation just by announcing demonetization of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 currency notes. Hence, there is the huge rush outside every bank and post office because of peoples trying to exchange their existing Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes.

The announcement to demonetise Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes came with a stated aim of curbing black money, corruption and tax evasion which is causing much panic among the citizens. Even earlier we saw that how the Black money holders in India turned to the search engine for seeking help “How to convert black money into white”.

However, banning Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes have resulted in rendering almost 86% of currency in circulation. But, now the Indian government has stopped over the counter exchange of old notes of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 from last midnight.

But, the Indian Government has still allowed several privileges for the certain transactions and activities where the payment could be made only through old Rs.500 notes. Hence, all these places will simply allow the usage of your old Rs.500 notes till the midnight of 15 December 2016.

  1. Payments towards any prepaid mobile top-up to a limit of Rs.500 per top-up.
  2. Purchase from the Consumer Cooperative Stores will be restricted up to Rs.5000 at a time.
  3. Payment of fees in Central or State Government colleges.
  4. Foreign citizens will be allowed to exchange foreign currency up to Rs.5000 per week.
  5. Payment of current and arrear dues to utilities will be limited to only water and electricity.
  6. For now, it has been decided that toll payment at toll plazas to be made through old Rs.500 notes from Dec 3 to 15, 2016.
  7. Payment of School fees up to Rs.2000 per student in Central Government, State Government, Municipality and local body schools.
